Dr. Philip Lanzkowsky was born in Cape Town in 1932 and graduated from the university of Cape Town medical school in 1954. He did postgraduate work in London, Edinburgh and in the United States.

He immigrated to the United States in 1965 and was the founder and chief of staff of the Schneider Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park, New York, a position he held for 40 years.

During his formative years, Dr. Lanzkowsky was fed a daily diet of quotations from traditional Jewish sources by his father. These teachings taught him very important lessons which have guided him on his life's journey.

He has been a member of Temple Adas Israel for over 20 years.
