Mission & Vision

Mission Statement

We are a warm and growing Reform Jewish synagogue on the East End of Long Island. We are members of the Union for Reform Judaism.

We believe that prayer, spirituality, and beliefs are personal and unique to each individual. While there are basic tenets of Judaism that can guide Jews through prayer and everyday functions, you can and should feel free to express your own religious beliefs and spirituality in your own way without judgement.

We strive to be:

A place to feel love and acceptance.

A place for respectful dialogue about Israel, as part of our connection to ancient and modern Jewish homeland.

A place where we care for each other and the broader community through gemilut chasadim (acts of compassion) and tikkun olam (acts of justice).

A place to celebrate our diversity because each person is created in G-d's image (b'tzelem elohim).

We encourage people of all facets of Jewish life and those of other faiths who are interested in a warm and all-inclusive Judaism to visit our welcoming community. We welcome all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or culture to join us in our uplifting communal prayer.

Welcome Home.

Our Vision

Beit Tefillah - A House of Prayer

Temple Adas Israel aims to create meaningful and interactive worship experiences which further the community's relationship with G-d through music and prayer.

  • We are committed to the ideals of Reform Judaism, balancing tradition with creativity, and are affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism.

  • Our services encourage participation and are joyful, passionate, and filled with song.

  • As a way of serving a diverse Jewish population that may wish to participate in our services, prayer at Temple Adas Israel is shaped in ways that will make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

Beit HaMidrash - A House of Study

Study is central to our lives as Jews. Through our ancient texts, we explore the deepest questions of human existence. Study encourages us to enter a conversation that embraces our differences. We strive to provide study experiences which engender debate and dialectic, as well as spiritual meaning, and intellectual engagement. We strive to be a kehillah kedoshah — a sacred congregation dedicated to the highest ideals of Judaism.

Beit HaKenesset - A House of Assembly

The synagogue provides an opportunity for community and for bonds of friendship and fellowship among all our members. We celebrate the many different paths that connect people to Jewish life, and seek to foster an environment of mutual respect, warmth and kindness. We maintain that the diversity of our congregation is a source of strength, and welcome everyone to participate in meaningful ways in the life of our synagogue.
