Social Justice Committee
The Social Justice Committee has identified opportunities for you to get involved in social action projects to help our neighbors and to make our community a better, kinder place. Check out our new Linktree!
Here are the causes we have prioritized for the coming year:
HOMELESSNESS
Temple volunteers work with Maureen's Haven to assist local houses of worship in providing safe, warm, temporary shelter to homeless individuals from November through March.
HUNGER
Throughout the year, congregants are asked to donate food to the Sag Harbor Community Food Pantry at the Whaler's Church. Additionally, temple volunteers work with local farms at "gleaning time" to harvest the leftover crops and deliver a portion of that fresh produce to the food pantry.
IMMIGRATION
Volunteers work with OLA (Organizacion Latino-Americana) to assist members of the East End Latino and Hispanic communities through driving our neighbors without cars to important doctor's appointments and medical treatments and mentoring youth.
AT RISK CHILDREN
Volunteers work with children at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center to provide enriching and safe experiences while their parents are at work. In addition, congregants will assist the Children's Museum of the East End in providing a variety of educational programming for local children.
Please join our volunteer force to help build community and participate in mitzvahs that will enrich you as well as the neighbors we serve!
